Welcome

Thanks for visiting Repurposed. This blog is about a house we are moving out of, an old house we are rehabing, a family that is walking in faith, a marriage that presses on, and the journey that God is taking us on. A repurposed life...turning the ashes into beauty.

"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." dreams can come true

Okay, I know its silly, but I have always dreamed of growing my own  lettuce.  You would think that a girl who lived on an acre would have had a lettuce patch at least once in the twelve years she lived there- but the answere is no.  She never found the perfect place to put it.  As with many other things in my life,  I overthink things and want them to be so perfect that I never get anything done.  A few things that come to mind:
1.The baby book I started to write out in pencil because I wanted to make sure my penmanship was perfect ( I could not decide what color marker would be best for the writing). So the baby book was never completed, 14 years later it is still in pencil.
 2.  All of the brand new scrapbooks I have not placed a page in because I haven't found the perfect way to scrap my photos.
3.  The many picture frames that still display the fake family that came with the frame.
The list goes on and I'm starting to feel like I've wasted so much time.

So now that I am changing into a new woman, I finally have lettuce!

I decided that the old sandbox was the perfect spot for growing some veggies.  I loved the way it turned out.  Although, the pickling cucumbers took over the whole patch, I am still so glad I finally took the plunge.
 What I learned is:
1.  that sometimes I'm my worst enemy
2.  things don't have to be so complicated
3.  nothing ventured nothing gained
4.  its ok to make a mistake
5.  only Jesus is perfect
6.  don't take yourself  so seriously, for goodness sake it's only lettuce!

So if you are like me and have trouble getting started because you are too worried about the end...I say, join me and take a chance at getting it wrong sometimes.  You might find out like I did that you can enjoy life a little more if you enjoy the journey and not be so caught up on the destination.  Here's another example of something I just did instead of thinking too much about how it was going to turn out.  I do love the way it turned out ; I especially love that I actually got it done in one day, without too much fretting.

I hope to have more time to craft and do the things I love.  The house is beginning to look like a home.  I hope to find my camera adapter soon, so I can show you all some before and afters.  I know I've been promising....I just realized that I've been waiting for the perfect pictures!  This craziness has to end.  So I promise to take some new pictures with my phone camera, even though they won't be perfect!
